Up-coming School Visits and Teaching
Fielding North School - Forensic Fun
I will be visiting Fielding North School in Week 5 of Term 2. I am currently designing an exciting forensic 'whodunit' unit for them. I don't want to give too much away here... However I am planning a week of hands-on experiments for their Y7/8 syndicate. Each class will be divided up into Forensic Investigation Teams who will collect evidence from around the school before taking it back to their 'laboratory' to analyse it and draw conclusion. Each day's experiment will give the teams more information and 'Police reports' on the suspects will be provided to help these budding detectives solve the crime. Watch this space for photographic evidence!
I will also be running three fun hands-on Science Club events after school in the school hall. Interested? READ ON...
Dr K's Science Club Specials
Monday 21st May – Y3/6 - 3.15 to 4.30 pm - Study and take home some real fossilised shark teeth and a copy of a T-rex tooth made from a real dinosaur fossil. Also take a look at how dinosaurs got caught in quicksand and so became fossils.
Wednesday 23rd May – Y5/8 - 3.15 to 4.30 pm - Experience fake snow (COOL Science!!) and take home a bag of it. Then make a Lava lamp and take that home too.
Thursday 24th May – Y5/8 - 3.15 to 4.30 pm - Flight experiments. Make a variety of flying machines and test them, including rocketry (fingers crossed for good weather so we can launch our rockets outside).
If you go to North Street School ask at the school office and book a place. First come first served, places are limited so be in quick. Each session is $8.00 per child.
